YouGov Survey Review – Is it a Reliable Site or a Scam?

Welcome to my YouGov Survey review!

YouGov is a worldwide site that collects opinion across the world.  The site rewards members in exchange for giving opinions on different products and services.

Is it really that easy? Is YouGov Survey worth your time? And most importantly, is it a legit or a scam?

That’s all I will be covering in this YouGov Survey review.

So let’s start;

YouGov is the leading market research company that started its operation in 2000. The site has over 6 million members, partnered with over 1000 organizations in the field of media, nonprofit and commercial organizations.

The site is continuously collecting consumer opinions on everything from the popularity of brands to political trends.

Unlike most other market research companies that focus only on the US, YouGov is available in more than 20 countries.

YouGov conducts surveys on behalf of its partnered organizations about politics, public affairs, products, brands and other topics of general interest.

The polls are taken by members of YouGov, who have agreed to share their thoughts on a wide variety of important issues.

YouGov is a legit site, and I have seen people are enjoying while completing surveys.

The Company not only rewards them a few dollars but at the same time, they get an insight into current events and things happening in the world.

One thing I want to make it very clear, making money from surveys earn you a few dollars per month, however, you could increase this level by joining by legit list of survey sites. 

YouGov is a typical survey site, and it offers only two ways of earnings, i.e., surveys and referral commission. Let’s look at them in detail.

Taking Surveys

YouGov participates its members in the form of surveys and accordingly rewards them. It pays in the form of points which you can exchange them for different for different rewards.

Most of the surveys comprise of 20 to 30 questions, and it will take not more than 10 minutes. In exchange for this, you could expect 500 to 1000 points.

Some of the surveys are longer than this and can take up to 30 minutes. The questionnaires are lengthy, and you could expect 1500 to 2000 points.

Please remember that 1400 points equal to $1, and if you get five invites per week, you could expect to earn a $4 to $6 per week.

Referral Commission

YouGov, to increase the earning potential of its members, offers referral commission for every person you being a member refer to this site. Once you logged in, you can see a unique link under my account tab.

You need to promote this link using many methods like sharing on the social media, creating a blog, creating videos and many more.

When someone joins YouGov using your link, and as soon as he/she has completed four surveys (including Welcome Survey), you’ll receive 2,000 points, and he/she’ll receive 2,000 points.

As said earlier, YouGov paid in the form of points. These points when reaches the specified level, you can convert them for different rewards. 

Rewards are in the form of gift cards, which are available in most countries. However, they do offer a PayPal option as well but only in a few countries. Retailers include Amazon, Best Buy, Nike, iTunes, Regal, Walmart, Kmart and more.

I have seen their gift cards starts from 25000 points which is a $15 gift card, while others are converted for 60000 points and even 100000 points.

It takes 1 to 3 weeks to actually receive gift cards after redemption. Gift cards are physically mailed.

The Good

1. Starting Bonus

YouGov offers its members 2000 bonus points when they join it. Though not much like Swagbucks, which offers $5, but still good to get some motivation at the start. 

If you exchange 2000 points to cash, it will approximately equal to $1.5.

2. Available in Numerous Countries

If you look at other popular surveys sites, they are mostly work in US, UK, Canada, and Australia. YouGov, on the other hand, works on nearly 24 countries including some Asian countries as well.

This is good for those people who are looking for surveys opportunities around those countries.

3. Interesting Surveys

Unlike most of the survey sites where you have to answer dull questions, YouGov shares some of the most interesting surveys. The surveys relate to politics, public affairs, products, brands and other topics of general interest.

This will help you better understand public views about current affairs, and consumer products and brands.

The Bad

1. Limited Earning Potential

Though the site is available in numerous countries, it offers very limited potential. You have only offered surveys and referral commission, which in my opinion is also very limited. The members are complaining about getting a few surveys for completion.

Those who received the surveys, they wouldn’t get themselves rich for completing those.

If you are expecting $5000 per month from this site, this is not for you. However, you could expect $20 to $30 per month from this site.

2. High Payout Threshold

On the one hand, the site offers limited earning potential, while on another side it has a high payout threshold.

This makes them tough for the members to get their hard earned money. What happens most; the members get demotivated after earning few points.

The minimum payout in this site is 25000 points which you need at least one or two months to reach this level.

3. Surveys Depend on Your Demographics

Though the site is available in many countries across the world if you belong to a country other than the US, you shouldn’t expect more surveys. The survey depends on your demographics.

After creating an account with the site, you are required to fill out the profile questionnaires that let them know about your stats.

Based on this information, they send you surveys for completion. Even after this, sometimes you get disqualified after completing a few of the survey questionnaires.

That’s why I also said that surveys could be frustrating for the peoples.

To the extent I have gathered information about this site and reading customer reviews, I must admit that the site has all the indications of it being a legitimate survey site.

The site also has a very clear privacy policy and easily available to its users. It asserts that they are committed to protecting your information and will never sell it to 3rd parties or send you spam.

Though the site has a lot of issues which I have stated above but still if you have patience, this is for you. 

YouGov is marketed as a survey site that is geared towards people who want to give input on interesting topics and aspects of life in exchange for receiving some rewards for doing so.

Nonetheless, you shouldn’t expect too much from this site, as it could only reach your hands to $15 to $20 per month.

On the other side, if you’re on the hunt for a paid survey site with lots of options to earn rewards, I don’t recommend YouGov.

The rare availability of paid surveys on their site and the requirements of high points to exchange them to actual rewards just do not make them a viable option for the keen, paid survey hunters.

If you don’t want to waste your time and looking for a real opportunity. I recommend one option only.
