AWOL Academy claims of taking a holistic approach to helping people build a highly successful business from home, even if you are a complete newbie and starting to work from scratch.
They called themselves the world’s most Comprehensive Internet Marketing Education & Mentorship Platform.
Its look very appealing to you but despite AWOL Academy claims, I must appreciate you for taking your time to do your own research before joining this academy.
I'm not linked with AWOL Academy in any form, and my purpose of writing this review is to reveal the truth behind it.
Is it really that easy for AWOL Academy to fulfill its promises? Is it worth your time? And most importantly, is AWOL Academy a scam or legit?
I will cover all this in this review.
So let’s start;

Though training materiel is good and contain strategies that are are working but whether it is worth for the price it is offering? I don't think so.
What is AWOL Academy?
Keala Kanae and Kameron George are the founders of AWOL Academy, and they launched this program officially in 2015.
The AWOL stands for ‘Another Way of Life’ and actually existed years before the ‘academy’ under the name ‘Project AWOL.’
Previously, George was a part of digital multi-level marketing (MLM) company, Empower Network, between 2012 and 2015. At that time he called his team “Project AWOL.”
After that, George left that company and teamed up with Keala for AWOL Academy’s Internet Marketing mentorship program.
AWOL Academy provides you with the training, curriculum, coaching, and support you need to start your business via affiliate marketing.
AWOL Academy Product Line:
When you do the preliminary research, the first set of products are free, which is a PDF eBook in which Keala Kanae explains how he has earned seven figures with the marketing strategies he personally uses.
He then leads you into a webinar that is basically a sales video and explains how you can replicate the same type of success that Keala gets.
In that video, he has also given a guarantee that you can make $10,000 in 90 days using his methods.
The PDF ebook and the webinar are both free, and you are encouraged to buy for the actual products that I will show you within a few seconds.
If you see Keala Kanae’s offer, then the first product that you will buy is Pro Academy.
1). Pro Academy
It is a step by step training on how to set up a sales funnel correctly.
In marketing, it is important to have a good sales funnel. It is where your traffic travels through your website. So, if there is any mistake while creating this funnel, you wouldn’t get the desired results.
The cost of this module is $99, which I think is a high price for setting up your entire funnel correctly.
Also, when I look at the videos, I didn’t find any guide on setting up an auto-responder and stuff on email marketing.
Though there is good stuff in this module, but pretty introductory. You can find all those info on YouTube and Google for free.
Paying $99 for this, I wouldn’t recommend it to you.
2). Inbox Academy
It’s surprising to see that the email marketing which didn’t guide in the Pro Academy, you need to buy Inbox Academy module @ $447.
This module guides you everything about;
- How to set up email marketing funnel?
- How to increase your subscribers?
- How to increase your email open rate and clicks?
Again I got surprised to see that in this module you will know how to set up autoresponder but I couldn’t find the answer;
How could I convert traffic into leads and leads into customers?
What would you think after spending more than $500, you are still not getting customers?
You need to buy the next upsell, i.e., Conversion Academy.
3). Conversion Academy
So, here you go. To unlock this module, you need to pay a $1,797. You hear it right!
This module discusses everything about converting your leads into new customers. This is what they called;
“Creating an irresistible desire within your audience.”
They'll teach you things like story-telling, live presentation, integrate hypnotic language, persuasive sales copy to help you increase your conversion rate.
Let's first look at what is included in this package;
- Module 1: Epic Story Telling
- Module 2: Mind Control Hacks
- Module 3: Live Sales Formula
- Module 4: Evergreen Sales Formula
- Module 5: High Ticket Sales
- Module 6: Affiliate Tracking
You have set up everything; website, landing page, sales funnel, and auto-responder.
But you don’t have one thing, where is the traffic.
You need traffic to get leads and leads into customers to earn a profit. But after spending more than $2500, you didn’t get the answer on how to bring traffic to your sales funnel.
For this, you need to purchase Traffic Academy.
4). Traffic Academy
The price of Traffic Academy is $2,997, and this is the module that will show you how to bring traffic for your sales funnel.
The only traffic isn’t enough but laser targeted is what everything should be aiming for.
I think they did their best to provide you all this stuff.
But one thing I want to tell you their entire focus is on paid traffic.
Now, I think you have everything from setting up your funnel to bringing traffic and turning traffic into customers.
Whether they have anything else to offer? Yes, they have!
They called it a Master Academy.
5). Masters Academy
The upsell comes up with a hefty sum of $5,497 and is designed for more advanced marketers.
You are shared with some of the interviews of greatest leader in this industry on money management, strategic tax planning, investing, and more so that you can continue to build on your business success.
6). AWOL Academy Elite Program
This is their final upsell and the most expensive as well. They called this module for wise marketers who know all the fundamentals but wanted to scale their business to the next level.
They also assure people of desired results. This is through working with the experts on a week by week basis with personalized group coaching.
Do the math, and you come up with more than $15,000 just to get access to the full material.
Tired of scams, see my #1 recommended business here!
Pros & Cons:
1. BBB Accredited
AWOL is accredited with Better Business Bureau having “B+” rating. Every business that is accredited by BBB is a good sign for the business as well as for the consumers.
This is because the business is considering the complaints of its customers and trying its best to resolve them.
2. In-depth Tutorials
Let’s set aside their $20,000 cost and assess their training.
The training provided here is good, and you need everything to set up for your online business. The concept is also based on email marketing and affiliate marketing that are the best methods to earn money.
You can find all the training material under one roof. Moreover, you would also interact with some of the leading experts in the digital marketing industry.
Though all the training stuff is excellent but does it worth for $20,000? I don't think so, but that is just my opinion.
3. Money Back Guarantee
You only have 14 days to determine whether you are satisfied with the course or not.
If you're not satisfied, you can get your money back 100% within the first 14 days. This has been confirmed by some of the ex-members who have quit AWOL.
1. Way Too Expensive
After reading above, you get the idea about the course is way too expensive for everyone. Let’s calculate it;
- Pro Academy = $99
- Inbox Academy = $447
- Conversion Academy - $1,797
- Traffic Academy = $2,997
- Masters Academy = $5,497
- AWOL Academy Elite Program = $9,997
- Total = $20,834
Trust me; this is the most expensive program I have ever seen. I never pay more than $150 for this course.
Honestly speaking, you can find most of the stuff online for free.
The first two modules (Pro & Inbox) are very introductory. They are just introduction about the tools you need for the funnel and how to set up them.
If you go to Hostgator, Getreponse, Lead Pages; you will get all that stuff there for free.
2. Focus on Paid Traffic
If you spend $20k on buying that’s stuff, how could you manage your budget for paid advertising? And all of their strategies focus on paid methods.
You have heard about Pay Per Click Marketing (PPC) in which you pay for each click, and to get good results, you need to spend a good budget daily for PPC advertising.
Don’t think you will get the results pretty fast. Once you test different campaigns on a regular basis, you can find the winning ones.
But the issue is you could also waste your money as well. So, if you are in a tight budget, there is always a risk involved.
No one ever show you their winning campaigns, but they will only guide you. You need to find it for yourself.
It would be better if they first guide about free traffic methods and once people start earning money, they are then shifted to paid ones.
3. Extra Hidden Cost
Apart from training and PPC budget, you also need to buy certain tools to get this system running.
You need to spend;
- $12/year for a domain name
- $50/year for a hosting
- $49/month for Getresponse pro plan
- $48/month for lead pages pro plan for building landing pages
- $12/month for Click Magic starter plan for tracking
You cannot ignore this cost as it would add up very quickly on month by month basis.
Yeah, that’s true; you need to spend money to make money. But how ridiculous it is to spend $20,000 on the course and thousands of dollars for paid traffic and tools.
4. Pushes People to Promote AWOL Academy
Some of the members are complaining about too much insist on promoting AWOL Academy. It is difficult to sell this high price item, and that is the reason why most of their members fail.
I think they should provide people training about promoting products via email marketing and then rest on the people to decide whether they should promote this one or not.
5. Misleading Advertisements
If you explore this academy on the internet, numerous people are complaining about misleading advertisements, false promises and refund issues.
They always try to upsell you when you subscribe to their mailing list.
Just go to BBB and see seven complaints are related to advertising and sales.
6. Pay Money to Become an Affiliate
If you want to become their affiliate, you have to pay a $39.95 per month fee. You also need to purchase traffic academy to become eligible for this.
How many programs have you seen that charged people who try to promote their product?
I have promoted hundreds of products online via affiliate marketing, but they are all free to join.
7. No Free Trial
All good courses provide you the option of free trial or a nominal fee to show what is included in the training. This helps them to decide whether they should go for the full price or not.
The only thing they provide you once you decide to subscribe to their mailing list is a FREE PDF and a 2-hour online marketing "Masterclass."
And all of their stuff revolves around unrealistic claims and promotion for these big tickets upsells.
Is The $10,000 Guarantee For Real?
They have made the bold promise of making $10,000 in the first 90 days if you join them.
Though the promise isn’t a scam, it is attached with strict conditions as expected.
Your first and the most difficult step is to become an Elite level member. It means you need to spend $9,997 to work closely with their team.
Also, you must complete the ‘5 pillars’ of success each day which is;
- Listen to audio daily on relevant topics (20 to 30 minutes)
- Read daily on relevant topics (20 to 30 minutes)
- Generate traffic and leads daily
- Email your list daily about
- Be a Mastermind daily within the AWOL community forum
Put simply; you need to be an Elite member who takes massive action, and who has a decent advertising budget.
Is AWOL Academy a Scam?
Awol Academy isn’t a scam. It is a legit platform designed by the marketers for marketers. The platform has pretty good stuff for making money online using email and affiliate marketing.
However, my biggest concern for the Awol academy is its price, which is very high.
Also, the first two upsells are pretty introductory stuff. You can find easily such information online.
Other upsells are good though and revolve around advanced stuff, but they are way too expensive.
On its own the training is great, but whether it is worthwhile when you look at the total cost? I don't think so. There are hundreds of training platforms out there and you can simply go there and see how much they are charging?
Want to Earn a Full-time Income From Home?
Though Awol Academy is a legit program, I recommend you to put your focus on the much cheaper options.
My recommended program is Wealthy Affiliate which is free to start, and if you like it, you may go for $49 per month later on.
The platform will guide you with the same stuff and with a lively community.
They have over 1,400,000 members and with a great support system.
Not only this, you are provided with free tools as well. You don’t need to pay for hosting, website security, SSL certificate, keyword research, and many other tools.
It has been running out there since 2005 and a true leader in this industry.
