What is American Consumer Panels?

The site owners claim that American Consumer Panels is a consultancy firm that performs two types of tasks, i.e., product testing and product development work.

They conduct In-Home Usage Testing (IHUT) and provide this feedback to brands and companies on their products from actual users.

To perform those testing services, American Consumer Panels needs to hire people across the country to test those products and give their feedback to the companies.

To be fair, products testing from home is a legit idea to make money online, but the question is,

Is American Consumer Panels is a real company or fake?

There have been a lot of complaints about this company, and I also conclude that it is better to avoid it.

Please read all my article to see why I come to this conclusion.

How Does American Consumer Panels Work?

To understand this process, let’s see it for both Businesses and In-House Product Testers;

For Businesses

For companies that are looking for launching its products and getting feedback from people need to perform the process that looks like this:

  • New Product Ideation
  • Concept Evaluation & Validation
  • Product Definition
  • Experience Definition
  • Product Positioning & Marketing
  • Launch of Product
  • Product Evaluation

IHUT can be a valuable tool in the following scenarios:

  • New Product Development
  • Brand Re-positioning or Revitalization
  • Brand Extensions
  • New Product and Service Validation and Testing

For In-House Product Testers

American Consumer Panels also hires in-house product testers to provide feedback on the products of businesses that contact them. Anyone can apply to them to become a product tester.

How to Become an In-House Product Tester?

You can apply through their website, and it is free. First, you’ll be screened through a series of questionnaires to establish your demographics and detailed consumer profile.

Such profile helps them know which product testing project is best for you. There is a possibility that your profile couldn’t match with any of the projects.

If you didn’t get a reply within a month, it is to be expected that your application has been rejected. (I couldn’t find anyone who have been selected for product testing)

Once you qualify to test products at home, companies will send you products.

You will need to perform surveys in the form of questionnaires to provide feedback on different products.

This helps the companies to understand what things they need to do before they go to market.

Once the product testing has finished, you will get paid.

American Consumer Panel Complaints:

1. It’s all Spam

A lot of people are complaining that after applying for this site, they are experiencing too many spam emails

In the application process, they will ask for your email id to inform you about your application status, but instead of doing this they are just spamming you different things.

Even people couldn’t get any reply about their application status and all they are watching spam emails from them.

We all hate spam, and I couldn’t prefer to give my personal information to anyone whom I don’t trust.

2. No Information About Owners

I navigate around the whole site and couldn’t find who is the owner or CEO of the site. They have added a separate “About Us” page, but when you go there, you will not find any info related to this.

I tried another way to check the ownership of this site by checking its whois record, but unfortunately, I couldn’t find anything new. As the site is Whois protected to make it impossible for the public to see its ownership.

Different domain registrars offer such Whois protection at the time of registration. So, the owners of the site are not allowing themselves to be visible to the public. That’s a red flag.

3. Fake Address

I didn’t stop here. After checking Whois record, I decided to confirm their address as shown in contact us page. The address written on that page is of One World Trade Center.

I further look into the Google Map, and the latest list of tenants and I couldn’t find any such organization is working there.

So, after seeing all those factors, I am pretty confident that the site is fake and all of their claims are not real.

4. Fake Domain Age

Here is another check I decided to do, i.e., to check the age of its domain “american-consumer-panels.com .“ When I see at the bottom of the page, here is what I found;

It means the site was registered in 2006. To validate their claim, I decided to check this. Let’s look at the detail below to confirm that the domain was registered in 2015.

You might be thinking what benefit they will get for showing domain registration date of 2006.  As per my experience, the older the domain, the higher the people will trust it. Even I got surprised to see at the bottom of the site that it is working since 2006.

5. Tons of Negative Reviews

When you see over the internet, more than 90% of the people are complaining about this site. The complaint is common; the site is a scam.

I know companies like Dell and HP have negative reviews as well, but when the web is full of negativity, some serious issues need to be considered before joining.

You may be wondering if a site is fake so why 10% people are advocating this site. That’s a good question.

The answer is straightforward. The site owners buy reviews from people using many different platforms. If you move to site Fiverr or Upwork, you could find many people who are offering this service for $5. So, don’t get excited after seeing a few reviews.

We are in this business for long and know which thing makes site legit and which makes scam.

6. Fake Trademark

I have seen American Consumer Panels site uses a trademark symbol everywhere on the site.

So I decided to check whether they are right in claiming this or it is just a fake similar to other things. I moved to the official site to test whether the trademark is registered with them or not.

Like other things, I couldn’t find anything related to this.

7. Fake Press Releases

On their FAQ, they have mentioned that they have been featured in various popular publications. The thing is getting featured on that popular news is not an issue.

There are many services over Fiverr and Upwork where you pay $50-$75, and they will write a press release for you and distribute it to various online publications.

So the fact that American Consumer Panels mentioned in various famous publications means nothing. Any business owner can hire a press release service to write positive news on the company and have it distributed.

8. False Promises

You could read on their site that they are paying $25 to $45 per hour for testing a product. That’s a lie!

Even the most legit and product tested company wouldn’t pay such a high amount. You could only expect $1 to $5 for testing each product and then write a thorough review.

It can take up to 1 to 3 hours. If you don’t believe me, here you could see the most popular product testing sites.

9. Information Selling Business

Even some of the people are claiming that American Consumer Panels is selling your information to other survey companies and those companies will then send you different surveys.

Believe me; I will not share my personal info to any such platform which has so much suspicious in them.

I also recommend you to stay away from such sites for giving any personal information because they may go into false hands.

IS AMERICAN CONSUMER PANELS A SCAM?

After having seen so many issues, I do not doubt saying that, this American Consumer Panel is a scam and you should avoid it at all cost.

There is nothing real about this company, and you’re just being misled and deceived into signing up for survey sites so that they can make money themselves.

Your personal information is also at risk, and if you provide your main email address while signing up, there is a flood of spam waiting for you.

Be ready for deleting your email id and creating for the new one, because you don’t know wherever your information has been dispatched.

There are tons of reviews you can find online, and the majority is saying that this site is a scam. However, few reviews can claim it a legit opportunity, don’t trust them as such reviews can easily be purchased.
